Kalaija Mallery: Student profile
Kalaija Mallery will be graduating Summer 2020 and she is well on her way to being an important voice in the national arts community.
Mallery is Manager of The Luminary, a non-profit contemporary art center in St. Louis. Mallery connected with The Luminary while the center's co-founder James McAnally was a Visiting Artist for the Low-Res winter intensive. Mallery is continuing the practice of managing an arts institution with a holistic approach

Join us for conversations on art and ideas. Visiting Faculty give a public talk Wednesdays, at 6pm from June 17 to July 29, 2020 as part of the Hallie Ford School of Graduate Studies Summer Lecture Series. These events are free and open to the public.
Mentor Highlight: YOUNG-HAE CHANG HEAVY INDUSTRIES
YOUNG-HAE CHANG HEAVY INDUSTRIES (yhchang.com) is Young- hae Chang (Korea) and Marc Voge (USA). Based in Seoul, they have written their signature animated texts set to their own music in 26 languages and shown many of them at some of the major art institutions in the world.
Alumni Highlight: Marie Conner
While at PNCA, Low-Residency MFA Alumni ’19 Marie Conner’s artwork and research focused on disability theory, feminism, and how art can help us see, understand and connect with each other. That investigation continues to fuel her work
Mentor Highlight: Michael Jones McKean
McKean is currently an Associate Professor in the Sculpture + Extended Media Department at Virginia Commonwealth University where he has taught since 2006 and is Co-Director of ASMBLY based in New York City
Mentor Highlight: Jessica Jackson Hutchins
Jessica Jackson Hutchins lives and works in Portland, Oregon.
Hutchins’ expressive and intuitive studio practice produces dynamic sculptural installations, collages, paintings, and large-scale ceramics, all hybrid juxtapositions of the handmade.
Mentor Highlight: Corin Hewitt
Corin Hewitt’s installations, performances, sculptures, photographs, and videos investigate relationships within architecture and domestic life. Hewitt received his BA from Oberlin College and his MFA from Bard College. He is an Associate Professor and Graduate Director of Sculpture and Extended Media at Virginia Commonwealth University.
