Stuart Getty is a writer and brand strategist with 15 years’ experience leading teams and storytelling. With a love for strategic communication and branding, Stuart is also a filmmaker (TEDx, Portland Film Festival and Oregon Room at Sundance) and leads with an emphasis on authentic storytelling and emotional connection.
The Collaborative Design program was so excited to host renowned designer Rehanah Spence who gave a lecture on the span of her career trajectory.

Led by faculty member Skye Moret, students in the CD/DS program collaborated with Ivy Chuang, founder of Blendily, to create a beautifully designed honeybee habitat.

Participatory Action Research (PAR) is a method that is integral to our design thinking in the MFA in Collaborative Design + MA in Design Systems, in that 'it is a method of research that relies on purposeful engagement with with participants to deeply study human-centered problems and ignite action towards positive change'. This Fall, faculty members Herman D'Hooge and Laura O'Quinn led students in an innovative course called "Design for the Long Now". This course is about designing solutions to complex societal or environment problems such as social injustice, climate change, environmental degradation, loss of biodiversity, poverty, intra- or inter-generational inequity requires taking the long view.
