Welcome Home

All new freshmen and transfer students live in ArtHouse, contemporary student housing on the North Park Blocks in the arts-focused Pearl District. Designed with students in mind, ArtHouse is just a 5-minute walk from the main WU PNCA campus building, the Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Center for Art and Design.

The student apartments are light-filled spaces that face the park and the city, with hallways that serve as gallery spaces for student art. Apartments are furnished and feature modern kitchen appliances and washer/dryers. The Portland Streetcar, rail lines, and bus routes are within blocks of ArtHouse, as are a variety of entertainment and dining options.

WU Housing Portal

The WU Housing portal is where students access Willamette University on-campus housing information and applications.

Each student has their own WU Housing portal page! New students submit housing applications, electronically sign your housing application and contract, register for move in times, and look for information and resources through the WU Housing portal.

Log in periodically to view housing updates.

Students may apply to rent their own private room or may request to share a bedroom with another PNCA student. New students should apply for housing on the WU Housing Portal as soon as possible for best selection.

FAQ

Below are the most frequently asked questions we receive from families and incoming students. If you do not see the answer to your question below, please contact us directly at arthouse-info@willamette.edu or pnca-student-life@willamette.edu. Thank you!

Information regarding your housing assignment will be available the first part of August. Roommate placements will begin in mid-June. Look on your WU Housing portal for information regarding your placement and your roommate (if you received a shared room). Please know assignments may change as more people apply throughout the summer.

ArtHouse applications are due June 1, and roommate selection takes place mid June. You will receive information via your WU email with instructions on how to choose a roommate. Information regarding your housing assignment will be available the first part of August.

Please contact student-accounts@willamette.edu for assistance regarding your deposit.

You can access the application and questionnaire to make changes through the WU Housing portal and edit your responses until June 1. If you cannot access your application, email the information to housing@willamette.edu and we can update it for you. Remember, you must be logged into your WU email to access both forms.

No, students cannot move in prior to move in day August 21, 2024.

Yes, BUT, you must let us know prior to sending the package, and they may ONLY arrive one day prior to move-in day. We will not hold packages if they arrive sooner than that.

ArtHouse has single and shared studio apartments, and traditional two bedroom and three bedroom units. Some of the apartment units have both single and shared bedroom spaces.

Yes, the apartments are furnished. The units will have an extra long twin bed, desk, dining room table and chairs. Standard apartments contain couches, studio apartments do not. The units also include appliances: full size washer and dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator, oven, stove and microwave.

The apartments do not include items such as linens, pots and pans, dishes…etc. For more information and ideas on how to prepare for living in an apartment, check out What to Bring.

Yes. This deposit is refundable, if the unit is left in move-in ready condition when the student vacates the apartment.

No, ArtHouse does not have any parking on site. There is a parking garage next to the facility that offers monthly parking. This lot is managed by City Center Parking.

Portland is an extremely bicycle and pedestrian friendly city. Additionally, there are plenty of public transportation options to get around town and to the surrounding metro areas. Please visit www.trimet.org and use their trip planner to explore public transportation options to your destination.

ArtHouse is a pet free building. Service animals and emotional support animals (ESAs) must be endorsed by Accessible Education Services, and approved by Residence Life and Housing before the animal can live in ArtHouse. All appropriate forms and paperwork must be completed and turned in to the appropriate office PRIOR to the animal arriving on to campus.

Housing Policy

Mandatory Housing Policy and Exception Request Process

New PNCA campus undergraduates must reside in ArtHouse for their first year unless they qualify for an exemption or successfully petition for an exception. Exemptions are granted for students who are married or who are living with parents or legal guardians within 25 miles of campus. On a case-by-case basis, the College will review requests for exceptions to this policy based on extraordinary circumstances (e.g., medical issue). To request request waiver information, please email arthouse-info@willamette.edu.
