Funding Resources
There are many ways PNCA works with you to help you fund your education. At this time Federal Financial Aid is not available for this program. However, PNCA offers a payment plan for this program.
Private Student Loans
A private or alternative student loan is a non-government loan specifically for students borrowed through private lenders. You can borrow the remainder of tuition and fees, books and supplies, living expenses and transportation costs up to a yearly maximum amount. Private student loans do require credit approval, and many students need a co-signer to qualify.
If you choose to borrow a private student loan, make sure you understand the interest rate, fees, deferment options and repayment terms for the loan program you select. If you need assistance in reviewing your federal aid options or have questions about private loans, please contact the Financial Aid Office.
Additional requirements:
- Most private loan programs require that you are attending at least half-time (6 credits) each semester that you receive funds.
- You must credit-qualify with your selected lender before receiving private loan funding. Many students will choose to apply with a credit-worthy consigner to increase the likelihood of approval.
- The amount you can apply for depends upon the other aid you have received or will receive for the current academic year. Please check with the Financial Aid Office to make sure the amount you wish to borrow is within acceptable limits.
- Please borrow conservatively. College is expensive, but there may be alternatives to borrowing additional funds to meet your expenses.
- For example, Federal Work-Study allows you to work part-tim on campus to reduce your reliance on student loan funds.
Private Scholarships
Private scholarships are a source of free money that can be found from a variety of resources. Companies, foundations, public organizations and other membership groups are the most common sources for private scholarships. You may use search websites specific to this purpose such as:
- FastWeb (www.fastweb.com)
- School Soup (www.schoolsoup.com)
- Scholarships.Com (www.scholarships.com)
- Student Scholarship Search (www.studentscholarshipsearch.com).
You may also do a Google search based on personal interests, artistic or scholastic merit, nationality, religion, employment, physical attributes, disabilities, hobbies or any number of special characteristics about you and/or your family. Contact PNCA's Financial Aid Office for additional scholarship resources.
PNCA Payment Plan
A payment plan is offered through PNCA if you would like to make monthly payments toward your tuition and fees. The payment plan allows you to make monthly payments throughout the course of each semester with no late fees or interest. There is a set-up fee of $30 if you choose a payment plan option. For additional information, please contact the Student Accounts Office at 503.821.8974 or student-accounts@willamette.edu.
PAYMENTS AND REFUND POLICY
Payment of Tuition and Fees
Tuition and fees are due in full prior to the start of each semester. Deferred payments may be allowed on a case-by-case basis. Balances must be paid in full on or before the last day of class during the semester for which tuition payments have been deferred. A service fee will be charged for any deferred payments.

Refund Schedule
Refunds are calculated on the following schedule for students who have officially withdrawn from PNCA:
Official withdrawal before the first week of classes: | 100% of tuition refunded |
Official withdrawal during: first week of classes | 100% of tuition refunded |
Second week of classes | 100% of tuition refunded |
Third week of classes | 70% of tuition refunded |
Fourth week of classes | 60% of tuition refunded |
Fifth week of classes | 50% of tuition refunded |
Sixth week of classes | 40% of tuition refunded |
Seventh week of classes | 30% of tuition refunded |
Eighth week of classes | 20% of tuition refunded |
No tuition refunds will be made for students officially withdrawing after the eighth week of classes, or for those students who unofficially withdraw (i.e. all F grades due to lack of attendance). Refunds apply to tuition only; fees are not refundable. Tuition and fees cannot transfer to another semester, nor will PNCA reduce tuition due to absence from class, regardless of reason.
The Financial Aid Office calculates refund amounts for all students. PNCA follows Federal Return of Title IV Funds regulations. Students should be aware that they may owe a balance to PNCA if they officially withdraw from school; the amount of that balance will be determined by the Financial Aid Office in accordance with the Refund Policy stated above and the Return of Title IV Funds policy as stated in the Higher Education Amendments of 1998. Additional Information can be found by request of the Financial Aid Office.
