Since 2010, Dr. Tuski has served as President and Professor of Anthropology at Maine College of Art.

Portland, OR—May 10, 2016—Demonstrating the scope of work being made by undergraduate and graduate students, Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) presents its annual 2016 Thesis Exhibitions opening May 22, 2016 and running through June 17, 2016. There will be an opening reception from 6-9pm on May 22 at both PNCA’s main building at 511 NW Broadway and at 724 NW Davis.

Portland, OR—April 12, 2016—Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) welcomes Sheila Hamilton to deliver the 2016 Edelman Lecture on May 10, 2016 at 5:30pm. Hamilton is a five-time Emmy Award-winning journalist and the author of All the Things We Never Knew, her memoir about being blindsided by her husband’s bipolar disorder and suicide. She will speak about her personal experience with mental illness and advocate for a more holistic approach to mental health.

Portland, OR—March 8, 2016—The Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) and the Center for Contemporary Art & Culture are proud to present Lifetime Achievement Award Exhibition: James Rosenquist at PNCA’s campus flagship, the Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Center for Art and Design, from March 22 through June 18, 2016. This exhibition, which is part of the 2016 SGC International Printmaking Conference, will feature 30 James Rosenquist prints from several collections with the majority coming from the Jordan D. Schnitzer Family Foundation Collection. Giving an overview of Rosenquist’s works in print, the prints in the exhibition are drawn from the years 1964 through 2011 and include selections from each decade. This year’s SGCI Conference will honor James Rosenquist with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Portland, OR—March 2, 2016—Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) is pleased to announce that the college’s inaugural Alumni Art Auction at PNCA’s new Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Center for Art and Design raised well over $100,000 for student scholarships.

February 3, 2016—Portland, Oregon—Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) announces the formation of the new Center for Contemporary Art & Culture. Through exhibitions, workshops, lectures, screenings, performances, and publications, the Center will invite consideration and analysis of the current cultural moment. Housed within Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA), the Center will enrich the student experience at PNCA as well as throw open its doors to the greater public to foster conversation and community. Directed by Mack McFarland, the Center for Contemporary Art & Culture will develop programming and activities with the guidance of an advisory council of faculty, students, alumni, and collaborators from Portland’s creative community. McFarland is currently Curator and Director of Exhibitions for PNCA and Museum of Contemporary Craft.

Friday, January 18, 2016 – Portland – Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) welcomes Sarah Sentilles as the new Chair of the MA in Critical Theory and Creative Research. Dr. Sentilles is a writer, critical theorist, scholar of religion, and author of three books including the memoir Breaking Up with God: A Love Story (HarperOne). She earned a bachelor’s degree at Yale in literature and art history, and a masters and a doctorate from Harvard, where she studied philosophy, photography criticism, visual studies, ethics, theology, religious studies, and feminist, critical, and postcolonial theories. At the core of her scholarship, writing, and activism is a commitment to investigating the roles language, images, and practices play in oppression, violence, social transformation, and justice movements.

Friday, December 15, 2015 – Portland – PNCA is proud to present Wangechi Mutu: The Hybrid Human in the 511 Gallery at the Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Center for Art and Design from January 19 through March 12, 2016. The Hybrid Human builds upon PNCA’s working relationship with the Jordan D. Schnitzer Family Foundation Collection. This will be Wangechi Mutu’s first solo exhibition in the Pacific Northwest and will be the inaugural exhibition in the annual Jordan D. Schnitzer Exhibition and Visiting Artist Series.

Friday, December 4, 2015 – Portland – The Board of Governors of Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) announces that John Casey Mills will serve as interim president. The longtime Portland attorney and PNCA board member will assume the role beginning January 1, 2016, and will serve until a new president is in place.

Wednesday, November 18, 2015 – Portland, OR – The Board of Governors of Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) announce today a leadership transition as President Dr. Thomas Manley accepts the presidency of Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio. He will assume the new role on March 1, 2016.

Portland, OR — November 2, 2015 – Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) is delighted to welcome Michelle Grabner to deliver a lecture November 19, 2015 at 6:30 as part of the Hallie Ford School of Graduate Studies Visiting Artist Lecture Series. This is her first major public lecture in Portland since being named curator of the Portland2016 Biennial of Contemporary Art at Disjecta. She comes to PNCA at the invitation of PNCA’s MFA in Visual Studies program.

Portland, OR — August 26, 2015 – Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) has named Darby Knox as its new Chief Advancement Officer. Formerly of the State University of New York, College at Brockport, Knox brings extensive campaign management and fundraising experience to the college, most recently overseeing a highly successful $25 million campaign, the largest in Brockport’s history.

Portland, OR — August 20, 2015 – With the first Pacific Northwest College of Art faculty biennial to be held in our newly renovated historic Federal Building at 511 NW Broadway, PNCA sought to do something that would not only highlight the artists, designers, and scholars who make up the faculty, but also showcase the scope of contemporary art, craft, and design created by alumni from PNCA’s Bachelor of Fine Arts and Masters of Fine Arts programs. The result is the first ever PNCA faculty and alumni exhibition titled Holding Sway, opening September 3, 2015 and running through October 18, 2015. Work by 41 faculty members and 31 alumni including installation, painting, videos, and sculpture will be installed in PNCA’s central Atrium.

Portland, OR — July 28, 2015 – Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) and Museum of Contemporary Craft are pleased to be the only Northwest venue for the traveling exhibition, Alien She, the first show to examine the lasting impact of Riot Grrrl on artists and cultural producers working today. A pioneering punk feminist movement that emerged in the early 1990s in the Pacific Northwest and Washington D.C., Riot Grrrl emphasized female and youth empowerment, collaborative organization, creative resistance, and DIY ethics. The exhibition will open September 3, 2015 and run through January 9, 2016 at PNCA venues including the 511 Gallery and Museum of Contemporary Craft.

Portland, OR — July 1, 2015 – Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) is pleased to welcome Tracey Cockrell as new Chief Academic Officer and Academic Dean. Cockrell was founding chair of PNCA’s Low-Residency MFA in Visual Studies in PNCA’s Hallie Ford School of Graduate Studies.

PORTLAND, OR — June 17, 2015 – On Saturday, June 6, Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) held its 2015 Landmark Gala at the college’s new home, the Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Center for Art and Design on Portland’s North Park Blocks. The signature fundraising event was attended by 450 people and raised more than $550,000 to benefit students, faculty, and programs.

Portland, OR — June 10, 2015 – Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) presents Resolving Chaos, an exhibition of recent abstract paintings and drawings by Honour Mack at the 511 Gallery at the college’s new Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Center for Art and Design. Mack is a visiting faculty member this summer for PNCA’s Low-Residency MFA in Visual Studies. The exhibition opens July 2 and runs through August 8, 2015.

Portland, OR — May 18, 2015 — Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) is pleased to welcome renowned Midwest sculptor Richard Hunt for a conversation with equally venerable Oregon sculptor Lee Kelly Thursday, May 28 at 6:30pm in the Shipley/Collins Mediatheque Theater at PNCA’s Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Center for Art and Design at 511 NW Broadway. Hunt will also be receiving an honorary degree at PNCA’s commencement ceremony. Both Hunt and Kelly interacted with architect, Pietro Belluschi, and this public conversation between these two revered artists will be moderated by PNCA Board Member Tony Belluschi and his wife Marti.

Portland, OR — May 12, 2015 – Registration is now open for Boundary Crossings Institute in Animated Arts at Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA). Boundary Crossings is a two-week intensive institute open to working professionals and graduate and upper-level undergraduate students interested in a hands-on exploration of animated installation as a medium and a site for investigation of moving image interdisciplinary practice.

Portland, OR — May 7, 2015 – Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) presents its annual Thesis Exhibitions showing the work of undergraduate and graduate students opening May 31, 2015 and running through June 19, 2015. The public is welcome to see work that represents a culmination of years of work and a final thesis intensive. These works include paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, design work, artist’s books, videos, performances, and more. This is the first year that the Thesis Exhibitions will be held at PNCA’s new campus flagship on the North Park Blocks, the Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Center for Art and Design at 511 NW Broadway.

Portland, OR — April 28, 2015 – Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) will expand its campus footprint into Portland’s Old Town/Chinatown this summer with the move of its 3D Fabrication Labs, the MFA in Visual Studies program, and student studios to three floors of leased space at 321 NW Glisan. The building, at the west end of the Steel Bridge, is just blocks from PNCA’s campus flagship, the Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Center for Art and Design at 511 NW Broadway.

Portland, OR — April 14, 2015 – Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) hosts Earth Day of Action, April 22, 2015 at its new campus flagship on Portland’s North Park Blocks at 511 NW Broadway. The student-led day of action is the highlight of April climate change programming at PNCA including student-led Eco Club Pollution Solutions workshops throughout the week of Earth Day.

Portland, OR — March 5, 2015 – After a year of construction, Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) has opened the new Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Center for Art and Design, the flagship of PNCA’s campus on Portland’s North Park Blocks. With a $34 million transformation of Portland’s historic post office, the College is positioned at the heart of the city’s burgeoning creative corridor. PNCA is pleased to announce that the $15 million target of its Creativity Works Here capital campaign was met in January. The campaign was launched in 2012 with a lead gift of $5 million from the Harold and Arlene Schnitzer CARE Foundation.
