Pacific Northwest College of Art extends a huge congratulations to MFA in Visual Studies alumna Elizabeth Malaska, who was recently named one of the 2021 Guggenheim Fellows in Fine Arts.
Poet and novelist Ocean Vuong reading followed by conversation with Dao Strom
On Thursday, April 15 at 6:30 pm, poet and novelist Ocean Vuong reads from his recent creative works. Following the reading, Vuong is joined by faculty mentor and interdisciplinary artist Dao Strom for a conversation.
Portland Art Museum Acquires Painting by Nationale Artist and PNCA Alumna Anya Roberts-Toney ‘14
The museum obtained the painting through a generous gift on behalf of PNCA Board Chair Scott. D. Musch.
Alumni Spotlight: Precipice Fund Grantees
Three groups of MFA Visual Studies Alumni (and one incredible student) were awarded grants to fund artist-run projects for the 2018-19 year. Chingada Gallery(Rubén GarcÃa Marrufo VS '18 and Diego Morales-Portillo VS '19), Nat Turner Project(Melanie Stevens VS '17 and maximiliano VS '17) and First Brick(James Knowlton VS '18, Eric Long VS '18, Molly Alloy VS '18 and Allynn Carpenter VS '18).

Visiting Artist Vaginal Davis' Performance, Class Visit and Studio Visits
We kicked off the Visiting Artist Lecture Series this year with a sparkly bang. Visiting Artist, Vaginal Davis, spent a whirl wind couple of days in Portland for the TBA Festival, to open an exhibition at Adams and Ollman Gallery and to spend time in the classroom as well as the studios with the Visual Studies students.

First Brick Pop Up at Williamson|Knight Gallery
First Brick, a curatorial collaboration led by 2nd years Molly Alloy, Allynn Carpenter and James Knowlton, hosted a one night only exhibition at Williamson|Knight Gallery last night that featured a performance by artist Lu Yim and VS '13 alum Takahiro Yamamoto with artwork by Kaija Xiao.
