MFA Collaborative Design + MA Design Systems students travel to Cumulus Bogota

October 25, 2019

The MFA in Collaborative Design + MA in Design Systems program is thrilled to send a group of students to the Cumulus: The Design After conference in Bogota, Columbia this month! In the dawn of the new millennium, Design is experiencing a moment of expansion, recognition, mutation and integration. This conference will provide a forum to debate emerging issues without fear of the experimental, while being critical, collaborative and speculative. Design today is transdisciplinary and plural. The Design After conference will highlight international perspectives on design and will give our students the opportunity to expand their networks and join larger conversations on design happening throughout the world.

Central themes for the conference include design and counterculture, fiction and de-innovation, transformations in both rural and urban spaces, and biodiversity-driven design. An incredible international roster of speakers includes Brigitte Baptiste, Martin Tironi, Dori Tunstall, Monika Bielskyte, and Daniel Grushkin.
