Collaborative Design + Design Systems students travel to Bend Design!

The MFA in Collaborative Design + MA in Design Systems students are looking forward to traveling together to beautiful Bend, Oregon for the annual Bend Design Conference! Sparking new conversations and collaborations, Bend Design 2019 will explore how creative thinking can shape our shared future. This engaging design conference will feature talks, interactive workshops, discussions, performances, hands-on exhibits, films, and opportunities for students to network and meet fellow designers. Some highlights include Martin Venezky: Trying, Failing, Evolving, Jessica Bellamy: Creative Impact: Equity in Information and Experience Design, and Liz Jackson: Engaging in Disability as a Creative Practice.

The Evolving Hand: A Panel Conversation

Join PNCA's MFA Applied Craft + Design Chair Sara Huston, faculty member and mentor Abbie Miller and artist and craftswoman Annica Cuppetelli in conversation as they delve into their individual use of both hand work and machine techniques, and share their research on the various layers of production and information that are intertwined with objects, processes, and materials, as well as their need to evolve, adapt, and establish craft in relationship to making and industry. The event will be at GMA Architects, where Miller’s ongoing exhibition serves as a backdrop for the talk.
