Student Spotlight: Cydni Carter
October 24, 2019
Check out this recent work by MFA AC+D First Year, Cydni Carter!
Raised in the Pacific Northwest Cydni has a strong connection to the natural world in which we live in. Her work spans from making paint with hand foraged pigments to trying her hand at more sculptural work using found pieces of nature. She is working to bring the natural world we are from INTO her studio and her work, connecting herself and the viewer with the Earth. To do this she is attempting to create a sense of place in her pieces, asking the viewer to reconnect with the nature in a different way and make them think about what that means in the world we live in today as an act of subtle activism.

Join us on Friday, October 21st at 6:30 for a lecture by Jeanne Medina Le. Jeanne is an LA-based artist who uses textile, the body, and installation to perform artistic research. She considers her production a continuous process which attempts to learn and decolonize the fixed and fluid spaces of her filipina-american identity. She is interested in the language, meaning, and knowledge embodied in textiles which are subject to time. Jeanne is Assistant Professor in 3D Media / Fiber Program Head at California State University Long Beach.
This lecture is a collaboration with Portland Textile Month
