Friday Fives: Ashley Conjugacion '22

On Fridays we give #highfives to a different designer from our extended family of PNCA students, faculty, alumni, and guest lecturers. 🙌🏾🙌🏻🙌🏽 This week's feature is Ashley Conjugacion '22. We asked her five questions, she gave us five images.
Ashley spoke with Oskar Radon '20 over Instagram Live for our first ever Friday Fives Live edition in November, 2020. Both graphic design majors, they are joining forces to show off student work and help run the PNCA Design instagram account as part of the design work/study team. We thought this was a great chance to let folks get to know her.
Q (Oskar): What is your dream job or dream project to work on? If you could re-do any project out in the world what would it be?
A (Ashley): I love advertising and package design in general, so doing that for a game company would be awesome! If I could re-do any project I would re-brand a beverage like Folgers or something.
Hands down, I love designing food packaging and beverages, and it’s a huge part of my life.
Q: What music have you been listening to in the past week? How about podcasts? TV shows? Twitch streams? What books have you been reading?
A: I’ve been listening to the new Ariana Grande album on repeat lately. I listen to some design podcasts off and on, and lately I’ve been watching Killing Eve. It’s about an MI5 agent going after an assassin, but I haven’t seen the most recent season yet...looking forward to it! I like to watch my friend’s twitch streams: twitch.tv/Cesela, and twitch.tv/Mossyo. Sometimes I twitch stream over at twitch.tv/heartchuuu, I do a lot of art and some League over there.
Q: Who are some sick designers you follow, that we should check out?
A: Shantanu Kumar on YouTube and Behance, he does a lot of great branding and film. His stuff is really clean and minimalist, I really like it. I also like Yutolog on YouTube, he documents his process really well, I recommend checking him out.
Q: What are your non-design interests that most influence your work?
A: Video games and food! Hands down, I love designing food packaging and beverages, and it’s a huge part of my life.
Q: Which project in your portfolio is your favorite and why?
A: My Black Rock rebranding project. I recently updated it with a short animation and the whole process was really cool to go through for rebranding an already existing company. I really like how motion adds another dimension to design!
