Artist Sandow Birk Talks to The New York Times

September 01, 2009

Sandow Birk talked to The New York Times about his series “American Qur’an.” Birk will be exhibiting a series of prints commenting on the debaucheries of contemporary warfare this November in PNCA’s Feldman Gallery.

Printed in collaboration with master printer Paul Mullowney of HuiPress in Makawao, Hawaii, “Depravities of War” features traditional woodblock printing techniques on Japanese paper and imagery that follows the course of war – from the recruiting and training of troops to the invasion of Iraq and its aftermath.
