Alumni Open New Gallery

Two PNCA alumni, Iris Williamson and John Knight, are opening a new gallery in Portland. Williamson | Knight is located in Portland's Pearl District at 916 NW Flanders. It opens First Thursday, April 6 with rolas in pdx a performance and installation by PNCA artists angélica maria millán lozano and Laura Medina. The exhibition finds the two artists "claiming our colOmbian identities through the honoring of nuestrxs madres, hermanxs, y tías. marcharemos y cocinaremos para nosotrxs o for ellxs?"

The gallery’s exhibition program launches on May 4 with a solo exhibition by artist Sheida Soleimani. Williamson | Knight’s first year of programming includes artists Sheida Soleimani, Alisa Bones, Derek Franklin, Raque Ford, and Hayley Barker.

Iris Williamson is an alumna of the MA in Critical Studies program (formerly MA in Critical Theory and Creative Research). She is Assistant Director of Rainmaker Residency and Program Manager for CONVERGE 45. She was until recently Associate Director and Curator of Hap Gallery. John Knight is an alumnus of the MFA in Visual Studies program. He has previously collaborated on Portland-based off-spaces H. Klum Fine Art with almna Lydia Rosenberg and Cherry and Lucic with Eleanor Ford and alumnus Raquipiso.
