2010 Commencement Ceremony

May 16, 2010

Pacific Northwest College of Art proudly presents the graduating class of 2010. This year, 71 undergraduates receive their BFA in eight different disciplines, and 15 graduate students receive their MFA in Visual Studies. They will be awarded their degrees at the 2010 Commencement Ceremony on May 23. PNCA President Emerita Sally C. Lawrence, who began her 20-year association with the College in 1981, will be the guest speaker.

PNCA will honor Thelma Johnson Streat and Sally C. Lawrence with Doctor of Art Honoris Causa degrees during the ceremony.

Thelma Johnson Streat (1911-1959) was a painter, dancer, designer and educator internationally-known in the mid-twentieth century for her visual and performance art. She is an early alumna of the College, having taken classes at the Museum Art School from 1934-1935.

Sally C. Lawrence began her long professional association with the College, which spanned 20 years, in 1981. She was with the College during its transition from the Museum Art School to Pacific Northwest College of Art, and oversaw the move to its current Pearl District location.

The graduating Class of 2010 will show their Thesis Exhibitions in three locations, May 23-June 26. BFA students will show their work in both PNCA Swigert Commons and PNCA Cornelia and William T.C. Stevens Studios. The MFA Exhibition will take place at the Goldsmith Building in Old Town. All buildings will host a special First Thursday event June 3, 6-9 pm.
