The narratives we use have consequences, they become singular, rigid, and fixed versions of history, politics, and our personal lives. Choosing the right words to describe an experience can lead to one detail being highlighted while another is forgotten. The smallest detail can mean everything to one, or many, lonely humans. I make in the moments of deep emotion to try to capture and record the indescribable. As memories change and fail us, records, even incomplete records can offer guidance to future generations. I provide consolation through documenting my personal experience to prove that we aren’t alone in our own narratives.
