program description

Embracing the hybrid moving image by combining digital technology, fine art practices, and critical theory.

Boundary Crossings

PNCA’s biennial Boundary Crossings is a two-week intensive institute open to working professionals, scholar/practitioners, and graduate and upper-level undergraduate students interested in a hands-on exploration of animation as a medium and a site for investigation of moving image interdisciplinary practice. The Institute’s guest faculty is comprised of internationally renowned teachers, scholars, and practitioners. Participants of past Institutes have come to Portland from around the world to engage and push their practice beyond the frame. Boundary Crossings culminates with a public showcase of work created over the two weeks.
