KD York (They/Them) is an illustrator and crafty maker born and based in the rainy city of Portland OR. Their work is highly inspired by the bittersweet feeling of nostalgia, exploring themes of family, summer camp, religion, and sewing in the sunlight. LGBT experiences and imagery affect every aspect of their work from the ground up and they wish to provide comfort and support for LGBT people in their images and storytelling. Using warm colors and messy lines to keep a feeling of looseness and play to every piece. From scrunchies to Quilts KD is willing to put their ideas and stories on just about anything to get their point across!
KDs work has been published in a series of idepetely run charity publications as well as in the final volume of the Unversed Anthology series Postscript. They also have been honored to work with youth arts education for the last 10 years.
KD received their BFA in Illustration at Pacific Northwest College of Art. When not creating KD spends their free time trying to convince everyone in their life to watch Pro Wrestling with them (it’s not working.)
