Abstract
The Field Guide of Nine Petal Island is a mixed media exploration of a fairy world created by Mother Nature in the wake of human society to protect the flora and fauna of Earth. Written in the perspective of an adventuring sunflower fairy named Suna, the project documents the island’s environments and fantastical inhabitants. The field guide will consist of illustrations, text, and moveable parts like envelopes and lift tabs. The combination of made and found items will bring a tangible and personal entry point to this magical world for the reader. In making this guide I hope to bring awareness of the beauty of nature and create a deeper understanding of what it means to be connected to our environment.
