Abstract
The Valliant Collection is a notebook series and expanding colleciton sharing remarkable women's life and story. I will be sharing my final portrait series of women including Maya Angelou, Emily Dickinson, Amelia Earhart, Sally Ride, Frida Kahlo, and Georgia O'Keeffe. I have display notebooks to show what the outside looks like and mockups as I continue to finish the inside designs. The plan is to share the Valliant Collection with bookstores, museums gift shops and more to sell these in person and online.
Artist Statement
I love sharing the beautiful parts of life and through my illustration, its my goal to uplift stories and candid moments that often get overlooked. As a woman artist who sees how the patriarchy and white supremacy can affect all aspects of life, intersectional feminism has been a major part of my research in university and inmportant part of my art.
My inspirations come from other women artists and writers and creating portraiture based on them is my favorite part of my work. From Maya Angelou, to April Grieman, surrounding myself with other creatives is important to my process.
I have settled into a digital oil painting techinque with my full color illustrations. laying a bright underpainting and drawing shadows and highlights on top keeps expressive mark making and also allows for details to shine through.
Along with illustration graphic design and mural making round up my skills and all inf luence each other and combine in interesting ways. I hope to coninue with illustration in both editorial and publishing, showing a woman perspective in male dominated fields.
