How To Make a Baby is part of a design thesis focused on the experience of trying to conceive (TTC) while queer. Ongoing through August 2022, the project aims to improve access to queer-specific resources and information about trying to conceive. Based on interview and survey responses of 118 queer people assigned female at birth, these works reflect the shared challenges of a queer TTC experience and highlight the invisibility of this particular narrative in our hetero-dominant culture. Through additional design system intervention—especially as we start to see this design at scale—couples will be able to more easily navigate the conception journey from initial decision making to choosing a donor to insemination.
