Abstract

The work being displayed for my thesis is a collection of glitched out stills and moving images that I’ve created using CRT TVs and analog video gear. The collection is made up of 5 images and 3 videos.

A lot of the time my brian feels as if it has the pedal to the metal and I can’t get it to slow down. Making this kind of art has made me realize that even in all its chaos, it calms me down and my brain seems to get back to a normal, more manageable pace. I have been producing music for the last 8 years now and I found that making it has a very similar effect. I guess I tend to gravitate towards mediums that relax me.

Artist Statement

It’s always been tough for me to keep my mind in a calm state. My mind is constantly moving and oftentimes it feels like a car speeding down a highway weaving in and out of traffic. Through the process of using analog hardware to create glitched videos and stills I have found a medium that allows me to be calm and in the moment.
