I want to create comforting spaces for self-reflection, peace, safety, and strengthening of one’s sense of self. My practice is centered around making objects that embody ambiguous and complex emotions. I am exploring the handmade and the sensory aspects of comfort through the art of bookmaking. Appreciating slow, quiet moments and what they teach us as human beings is reflected in the handmade nature of the work and the use of language within it. These works draw on my childhood experiences of solitude and closely observing the natural world around me. As an adult, I strive to bring this openness and vulnerability to craft work that invites personal ritual and relationship.
