Abstract / Project Statement
My thesis will consist of a 10x10 ft. pop-up souvenir shop based on a fictional mental asylum turned theme park named Lame Land that will explore and comment on how mental illness is both created and exploited in a profit-obsessed system. I will include hand-fabricated signage and branding assets to fully illustrate the company’s creepy personality and Orwellian atmosphere.
Overall, I will be making a commentary on corporate consolidation and the horrors of late-stage capitalism.
My intention for my thesis is to establish my own personal Intellectual property, through a core theme and identifiable visual style.
I will accomplish this through the creation of multimedia assets or physical artifacts that will be based on this Intellectual property’s world. These assets will ultimately be presented in the form of a Pop-up shop based around this IP.
