My name is Austin Meros, and I’m a Graphic Designer and Photographer based in Portland, Oregon.
I chose to work in the field of Graphic Design because of the wide array of skills it encourages you to have, and all the different types of people you get to work with. In a way, you are a visual reporter, learning about a situation, person, or event, and reciting it back to others in a visually interesting way.
When it comes to working in the field of Graphic Design, I’ve realized over the past few years that experimentation is crucial to further improving your skills, the importance of remembering that everything has its own message, and realizing that not every single project you work on is going to be incredibly fun, or focused on a topic you really like. Instead, try to see it as a learning opportunity to gain or improve your knowledge on something you weren’t previously familiar with.
Currently I’m creating work that consists of retro-futuristic and sci-fi elements and themes. Much of what I produce consists of large amounts of visual detail, which comes from the research I did into the subject at hand, or simply from what I feel is aesthetically pleasing.
