Flourishing The Free Food Network explores an in depth analysis of Portland, Oregon’s local food network and its effects during the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic. A large number of people throughout the city of Portland are experiencing some level of food insecurity. The rise of hunger is due to effects of social, economic, and political injustices and inequalities. My research focuses on understanding and positively impacting the marginalized low income BIPOC communities that are suffering at a higher rate during this crisis. Based on my research, I chose to focus on increasing the amount of healthy food options for folks to feed themselves through the use of growing and accessing more healthy food options.
