Using soft pastels on rich-textured paper, we’ll embark on a collaborative drawing experience fueled by surprise word prompts drawn from mystery jars. With a rotation system, each participant will add their unique touch to multiple evolving artworks, creating unexpected compositions and connections. This workshop is designed to encourage collaboration, ignite imagination, emphasize tactile experience, and inspire storytelling. Inspired by Antony Gormley’s exploration of collective creativity, this session invites you to let go, experiment, and discover new artistic possibilities through a dynamic and immersive process. Join us for an exciting printmaking workshop with Printmaking Faculty Member, Gordon Barnes! In this hands-on session, you’ll explore the art of screenprinting in our state-of-the-art printmaking facilities. Under Gordon’s expert guidance, you’ll learn the step-by-step process of printing on fabric and create your own custom screenprinted tote bag to take home.

Join Photography Chair Teresa Christiansen for a hands-on workshop in our black-and-white darkroom, where you'll create stunning photograms using a cameraless process. Experiment with objects and textures to craft unique photographic images on silver gelatin paper. You'll also learn to develop your own prints, witnessing the moment an image emerges in the developer. This workshop is open to all levels whether you're a darkroom enthusiast or completely new to photography. Come experience the magic of the photogram!

Whether you’re an aspiring animator or just curious about the magic of motion, this workshop will guide you through the essentials of limited animation techniques used in the industry. You’ll design your own unique character and bring it to life with flowing hair movements and expressive details like blinking eyes and subtle facial expressions. Using RoughAnimator, a powerful yet beginner-friendly animation tool, you’ll dive into core animation principles, master timing, and learn professional exporting workflows. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a fully animated loop to take home: your very first step into the world of digital 2D animation!

In this workshop led by art director and Graphic Design Department Chair Kristin Rogers Brown, we'll explore the basics of this unique printmaking method called risograph (riso)! With the vibrant colors of screenprinting and the quick and DIY vibes of an office photocopier, these machines create fun and sometimes unpredictable results. We'll demonstrate how they work and test out different techniques from collage to mark making to try them out hands on. At the end of the day, each participant will walk away with a set of mini prints created in the workshop to add to their art and zine collections.

In this workshop taught by Illustration Department Chair Martin French, you will explore the power of symbols and expressive drawing techniques to create a dynamic illustrated portrait.
