MFA in Printmaking Requirements

The MFA in Printmaking requires the completion of 60 semester hours, which includes 12 credits in graduate critique seminars, 15 credits in mentored printmaking studio, 9 core studio credits, 9 credits in general electives, 3 credits in critical studies electives, 3 credits in printmaking seminar, and 9 credits in thesis writing, and studio.

Program Curriculum

Year 1, Fall (15 credits)

  • PRM525 Graduate Critique Seminar I

  • PRM501 Print Media Studio with Mentor I

  • Studio Elective I, from Printmaking - Complete 1 course from the following courses:

    • Note: students applying for a Printmaking TAship for their second year must take one of the following 500-level courses as a first-year studio elective to remain in good standing:

  • PRM551 Watershed: Print Publishing (3)

  • Complete 1 course from the following courses:

    • PRM661 Critical Studies: Multiples

    • IS501 History of Printed Matter

Year 1, Spring (15 credits)

  • PRM526 Graduate Critique Seminar II (3)

  • PRM502 Print Media Studio with Mentor II (3)

  • Studio Elective II (3) Complete 1 course from the following courses:

    • Note: students applying for a Printmaking TAship for their second year must take one of the following 500-level courses as a first-year studio elective to remain in good standing:
