  • Meet Shannon Lieberman

    Shannon M. Lieberman, an art historian with a PhD from the University of California, Santa Barbara, explores feminist art, LGBTQ+ art, exhibition histories, and the interplay between art and empathy.

  • Meet Georgina Ruff

    Georgina E. Ruff specializes in modern and contemporary art and technology with a focus on the conservation of obsolescing media and immersive installations. Her research includes 60’s era light shows, Bauhaus illuminations, and contemporary spatial politics of object-less art.

  • Meet Alex Nanneman

    Alexandria (Alex) M. Nanneman teaches Art History at PNCA, Lane Community College, and Pacific University. With a master's degree in the History of Art and Architecture from the University of Oregon, she provides trained, professional guidance for students.

Curriculum

Art History dives into human creativity and its impact on culture through topics like power, myth, science, and philosophy. The curriculum explores art's historical and contemporary roles within society, helping to enhance critical thinking and visual skills. This minor develops writing and research abilities, preparing students for advanced studies and a variety of careers.

  • AH213 History of Design Arts

    History of Design Arts introduces students to a wide span of eras, cultures, ideas, and practitioners that shaped graphic history and continue to shape it today. Students will examine key historical figures and movements from different vantages, mapping the intersections of design, illustration, and communication through diverse yet overlapping critical lenses. 

  • AH319 Art History Special Topics

    The administration approves special topics courses. These courses explore current subjects and rely on faculty expertise. They also gauge student interest in potential curriculum additions. Experience an art history curriculum that evolves and captures modern conversations.

Requirements & Admission

To meet the Art History minor requirements, you need to take a variety of 3-credit courses that add up to 15 credits. You can work with your Academic Advisor to make a personalized plan that shows how this minor fits into your studies and makes sure your course choices match your goals and interests.
