On Campus Workshops

All On Campus Workshops will have the following schedule: 

Check-in and campus tour: 4:30–5:30 p.m.
*Campus tour starts promptly at 4:45 p.m.
Dinner: 5:30–6:00 p.m.
Workshop: 6:00–7:00 p.m.

While students are participating in the workshop, parents and guests are
invited to stay for an info session about our application requirements and
Pre-College program for high school students.

Please note that on campus workshops are limited to 22 participants unless otherwise noted. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Admissions Office.

Join us for an in-person observational still life drawing workshop at PNCA taught by Ardis DeFreece, Chair of BFA Thesis and Assistant Professor in the Painting and Drawing and Foundation departments! We will draw from a fun selection of objects with high key lighting for contrast. Dinner will be provided!

Transfer Student On Campus Workshops

Join us for a special event just for students who attend our transfer partner schools. In our Transfer Student Riso Workshop you will be able to get to know PNCA by working in one of our favorite studios on campus, the Risograph room. Risograph is a printing method known for producing bright, fun, and colorful prints with sometimes surprising results. It is often used for zines, comics, posters, cards and more! During the event, you will learn more about PNCA through a tour of our campus, a presentation about the transfer process, enjoy a pizza lunch, and end the day with a Risograph workshop led by PNCA faculty, Flo van Grote. We hope you will join us for a day filled with prints and pizza!

Virtual Workshops

Join us for a virtual workshop hosted by the PNCA Admissions Office and learn how to create dynamic digital character designs using shape language, silhouette, and stylization! We will engage in a series of drawing and idea generating exercises to help you develop your characters with time for Q&A.

Virtual Info Sessions for Students

In this virtual info session we will go over an often overlooked, but important part of your PNCA portfolio. Good documentation of your artwork can make a portfolio go from good to great. We will provide tips on how to ensure your documentation accurately represents your work and review how to create quality images with the resources you have at home. PNCA Admissions Counselors will be available for a Q+A at the end of the session.

  • Explain the financial aid offer;
  • Show how to accurately compare a PNCA offer to those from other institutions; and,
  • Explain how, and when, to make an informed decision (and point out a few red flags to look for).

finish. We will review how to start or continue your application, upload your portfolio and artist statement, request your official transcripts, and how to know if your application is complete. PNCA Admissions Counselors will be available for Q+A at the end of the session.

Fan art can be a great way to develop your skills and explore new styles, but where does it fit in your PNCA portfolio? In this virtual info session, we will define “fan art” and discuss ways to use your fan art as a jumping off point for new, original artwork with your unique, artistic voice. We will also go over common portfolio mistakes and how to avoid them. At the end of the session you will have the opportunity to have your questions answered by PNCA Admissions Counselors.

You will have the opportunity to ask questions and gain insight from our Dean of Admissions.
