    Teaching Assistantships

Teaching Assistantships are an opportunity for students who are interested in teaching to gain valuable experience in a leadership role in the classroom during their time as a graduate student. TAships are awarded to MFA and MA students who have completed the Critical Pedagogy course or have an MA in teaching.

Graduate Candidates work alongside a faculty member. The compensation is paid hourly, 7 hours a week for 15 weeks, and the selection is based on the student’s teaching packet which is developed in the Critical Pedagogy course.

TA appointments are made for one term only, and are typically for BFA Studio Art and Liberal Arts classes at the 100, 200, and 300 levels such as Basic Drawing, or Writing in Context. This teaching experience combined with a Masters-level degree prepares graduates for teaching opportunities at community colleges and other 4-year colleges and universities.

  • Graduate Fellowships

    Graduate Fellowships

Once enrolled, students have the opportunity to apply for Graduate Fellowship awards. All students are eligible to apply for fellowships and application deadlines are released by departments once classes have begun. Previous experience will be taken into consideration based on preferred qualifications.

    Currently, our fellowships include:

    • Curatorial Fellowships - The Graduate Curatorial Fellow’s job is to curate, schedule and maintain the on campus student galleries in collaboration with the BFA Galleries Coordinator under the supervision of the Gallery Director.
    • The Writers Fellowship - The Writer’s Fellowship offers a graduate student the experience of cultivating literary arts across the entire Hallie Ford School of Graduate Studies and promoting the Low-Residency Creative Writing program within and beyond PNCA.
