Susan Seubert ’92

Susan Seubert is a fine art and commercial photographer. With work in the 57th Venice Biennale, she was also a finalist in the 2011 Contemporary Northwest Art Awards at the Portland Art Museum, was included in Portland2012, a Biennial of Contemporary Art, and Portland Art Museum's 1999 and 2001 Biennials. In 2009 she won an International Photography Award in the Nature category. A professional journalist, Seubert images are featured regularly in Conde Nast Home and Garden, Newsweek, The New York Times, National Geographic Traveler, and Time. Her work is included in public and private collections including Microsoft Corporation; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, TX; Portland Art Museum; Oregon Health Sciences University; Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, University of Oregon; the City of Seattle, WA; and the Tacoma Art Museum. Seubert is represented by Froelick Gallery in Portland.

Julie Orser '99

Julie Orser is an award-winning artist who went on from PNCA to earn her MFA in Studio Art from California Institute of the Arts. Her videos, photography, and multi-channel installations have been shown widely internationally at venues including the Museum of Modern Art (New York), Künstlerhaus Bethanien (Berlin), Il Magazzino d'Arte Moderna (Rome), Kunstraum Innsbruck (Austria), The Gallery Loop (Seoul), Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (San Francisco), and at many festivals including the Ann Arbor Film Festival. Julie is the co-founder of ART OFFICE for Film & Video and Assistant Professor in the Creative Photography Program at California State University, Fullerton. She lives and works in Los Angeles.

Chloé Richard '06

Chloé Richard is a French-American photographer and copywriter with extensive international experience who is currently Digital Content Manager at Airbus Group. Her editorial photographs have been published widely.

JD White

JD White is a commercial still life photographer who also does playful and colorful stop-motion animations. His client list includes Adidas, Rit Dye, VICELAND, Kind Snacks, and Solestruck as well as beloved Portland boutiques and artists and designers like Boet, Liza Rietz, and Shop Six/Seven.

Opportunities

Blue Sky Exhibition Committee

The Photography Department underwrites the memberships for students to participate in the Exhibition Committee at Blue Sky, Oregon Center for Photographic Arts, the 40+ year old institution just blocks from the college that presents exhibitions of work by emerging and established international artists. The Exhibition Committee reviews submissions and curates and installs exhibitions prior to First Thursday openings.

Study Abroad

Our students take advantage of the many opportunities to study abroad through our short-term Global Studios programs and semester-long Exchange program. Students study in places like Belgium, Malaysia, and Norway, among others.
