Painting and Drawing Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate a high level of skill in drawing and painting materials and methods, including calculating measurements around composition, construction, and installation. Demonstrate fluency in a range of historic and contemporary painting methods through an iterative studio practice and exposure to principles of representation, abstraction and hybrid forms of painting and drawing. (PNCA CLO  1,3,5)

Develop and refine ability to understand, and critically assess the art historical and social context of painting and drawing practices. Employ material, technical and conceptual methods that demonstrate this critical lens. (PNCA CLO 1,3,4,6)

Utilize material and conceptual strategies that demonstrate an understanding of variation and difference as a productive prompt within studio practices. Develop literacies regarding creative practices and perspectives that may challenge one's own existing views and modes of creative work and that acknowledge an understanding of individual positionality. (PNCA CLO 1,2, 3,4,6)

Develop a conceptually and materially coherent body of work engaging the traditional and contemporary concerns in the field of drawing and painting. Create a generative and sustainable relationship to subjects, ideas and issues that translate into productive studio practices. Pursue excellence in craft and critical thinking and embrace failure as a tool for growth. (PNCA CLO 1,2,3,4)

Cultivate a multifaceted professional practice skill set (oral, written, technical, collaborative, self-driven, network building, goal setting, planning ) to support flexible, adaptable, innovative and diverse post graduate pathways. (PNCA CLO 2,3, 4,6,7)
