Traveling abroad with Global Studios exposed me to personal and creative growth that could not have been possible otherwise.

Short-term programs

Global Studios

Global Studios are paused during 2022-23.

Global Studios are PNCA’s short-term, faculty-led study abroad programs that have included trips to the Venice Biennale, Documenta, Muenster Skulptur Projekt, and in 2018, the Berlin Biennale. Recent Short Term Programs have included trips to Beijing and Shanghai, China; Dakar, Senegal; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: Tokyo, Japan; Parma, Italy.

Global Studios reach beyond the traditional academic calendar, generally preceding or immediately following a given semester, and have additional program costs. The program costs range from $4,500-$8000, which covers flights, housing, and a daily food stipend. Students generally earn 3-6 credits on Global Studios trips. We work with each student to ensure that the credits work within their academic plan. PNCA does offer financial support for these programs through travel grants and scholarships.

student aid

Funding

PNCA Aid that you receive to support your tuition at PNCA may be used to support Semester-Long Programs with affiliates and exchange partners. With international exchange partners, student pays the home institution and goes tuition free to the partner institution. With affiliates, the student pays the host institution tuition through PNCA. With non-affiliated programs the student pays the host institution directly. PNCA Aid may not be applied to non-affiliate tuition.

Our Director of Financial Aid for Short-Term Programs or Semester-Long Programs can help you identify resources of funding such as: PNCA Aid, PNCA Travel Grant, Loans, External Scholarships and/or Grants and determine how the Cost of Attendance (COA) for a particular program might within your financial aid package.

It is important to prepare a budget for tuition, room and board, international travel, in-country travel, books and materials as well as miscellaneous & contingency expenses. Financial aid can only be allocated for credits that fulfill requirements or needed electives.

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is an undergraduate program for U.S. citizens of limited financial means to enable them to study abroad, thereby internationalizing their outlook and better preparing them to thrive in the global economy. Students who are eligible for the Pell Grant should apply to the Gilman Scholarship.

GLADD Scholarship

As part of the Global Learning and Diversity Development (GLADD) initiative, the International Office offers need-based scholarships for students studying abroad with the International Semester Exchange program. To apply for the GLADD scholarship, students must work with the Office of International Education to determine eligibility and complete the application process. Upon the student’s return to PNCA, the student is expected to perform, display art, or speak about their experiences abroad. The hope is that GLADD recipients will inspire other PNCA students to study abroad.
