Jennifer Rabin

Assistant Professor

Jennifer Rabin (she/her) is an arts writer, artist, and arts activist. She served as the visual arts writer for Willamette Week and is the founder of ArtPassportPDX, a free citywide program created to increase community engagement in the visual arts. She is a contributing writer to Oregon ArtsWatch and Variable West, and her writing has appeared in arts and culture outlets like Hyperallergic, Bitch (RIP), Oregon Humanities, The Sun, Kenyon Review, and Harvard Review. In 2021, she started OUT OF THE BOX, a weekly arts writing project that publishes pieces that are either too big, too small, or too unconventional for other platforms.

Her arts writing practice focuses on exposing systemic inequity and institutional failures in the art world, exploring new patronage models to better support living artists, and finding delight in the ways that art brings meaning to our daily lives. Having come from a creative writing background, she often blends the techniques of reportage, traditional arts writing, and first-person essay writing. She loves 80s music and graffiti more than most things in the world.
