PNCA AND MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY CRAFT ANNOUNCE 2015 EXHIBITION SCHEDULE

Portland, OR—January 27, 2015—From its new campus on Portland’s North Park Blocks, Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) announces 2015 programming in its main galleries and exhibition spaces including the inaugural exhibition in PNCA’s flagship 511 Gallery in the recently completed Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Center for Art and Design and at PNCA’s Museum of Contemporary Craft.

In October 2014, PNCA and Museum of Contemporary Craft moved toward further integration with the creation of the PNCA Exhibitions Department, headed by Mack McFarland, Curator and Director of Exhibitions, in close partnership with Nicole Nathan, Museum Deputy Director and Curator of Collections. McFarland, a PNCA alum (’06) was previously curator of PNCA’s Feldman Gallery and Project Space. Nathan has been with the Museum since 2006 where she has organized more than 30 exhibitions.

The 2015 exhibitions at PNCA and Museum of Contemporary Craft include those featuring internationally recognized artists and those that engage in expansive regional exploration, shows of politically-engaged practices and shows curated by students and showcasing student work. There are exhibitions at both institutions that showcase experimental, contemporary, and traditional craft.

ABOUT PNCA
As Oregon’s flagship college of art and design since 1909, Pacific Northwest College of Art has helped shape Oregon’s visual arts landscape for more than a century. PNCA students study with award-winning faculty in small classes. In the last seven years, PNCA has doubled both the student body and full-time faculty, quadrupled its endowment, and added innovative undergraduate and graduate programs. PNCA is now embarking on its boldest venture yet by establishing the Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Center for Art and Design as an anchor for the College’s vision of a new campus home on Portland’s North Park Blocks. Focusing on the transformative power of creativity, the capital campaign, Creativity Works Here, was launched in June 2012 with a lead gift from The Harold & Arlene Schnitzer CARE Foundation of $5 million. PNCA’s new home will be a bustling hub for creativity and entrepreneurship, reflecting the influential role of art and design in our 21st century economy – both in Portland and beyond.
