Bio:
Perry Chandler (1990, Houston, TX) is a Painter and Mark Maker located in Portland, OR. Perry has his BFA in Painting from the University of Houston and then went on to complete his MFA in Visual Studies from Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA). Perry’s work seeks to find a balance between a personal narrative involving an exploration of depression and colors link to the emotional state and a visual composition steeped in metaphor and the poetic language of abstraction. Perry’s practice takes the exploration of mark-making across multiple mediums including paper, canvas, wall, wood, steel. Perry’s work has been exhibited in multiple spaces in Houston including Lawndale Art Center and in Portland including his first solo exhibition This Will Pass, Like The Weather(2019) at the Glass Gallery. In October 2019 Perry attended the Caldera Arts Artist in Residence program in Sisters, OR.

Summary:
In this show, Perry is exploring the color blue and its connection to depression and how the blues can shift and change from a feeling of sadness to a vibrancy of hope. This show contains five works, including drawings on gesso board, paintings on tando canvas, and an installation of several steel panels.
