Payton Barronian was raised in Seattle, Washington. He has a Bachelor’s degree from New York University and an Associates degree from Pratt Institute. After ten years in New York City he relocated to Portland, OR to earn his Masters of Fine Arts at Pacific Northwest College of Art. Payton has performed at MoMA Ps1 and Portland Institute for Contemporary Art. He has exhibited work at Avena Gallagher’s FREE SALE in New York City, OSMOS Gallery, Fisher Parrish Gallery, the Eckhaus Latta store LA, RISD, Cereal Gallery, PNCA, and various venues in Montreal and Oregon. He completed the inaugural Artists in Residence program on Kesey Farm in 2017. His work can be seen in Out Magazine, i-D, Paper Magazine, Purple.fr, Editorial Magazine, and You do You.
This collection of drawings is part of an ongoing collaborative project with artist Kayla Ephros. Since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, the artists have been sending daily drawing prompts to each other.
